Perth contact lenses are a bit more of a challenge to fit because of our harsh environment.
It's not just outside in 40 degree heat in the middle of summer that's the problem. Its also inside all the offices and home that have air conditioning. Then there is the sea breeze in the afternoon. Its great for cooling us down but it does dry out contact lenses.
Did you realise that up to 70% contact lens wearers experience dryness and discomfort at the end of the day? Also discomfort is the main reason that people give up on their lenses.
Most specialist contact lens fitters would agree that comfort is the most important factor for our clients. Now it goes without say that clear crisp vision is important, but if the comfort is not there then no matter how good the vision is the client will give up on the lenses.
The good news is that there are lens materials that are specifically designed for dry eyes. We have been trialling a revolutionary one day lens from Italy which has been very successful with our clients.
We have also introduced a Contact Lens Comfort Program. It is a program that we have developed to increase the comfort of contact lenses. It has been very successful almost everyone who has tried it has benefited.
We also have produced a monthly ezine. Where we give some great tips and hints on contact lenses wear. Our subscribers were some of the first people in Australia to find out about the recall of a contact lens solution that was giving people eye infections
